Mexican Supplies of Avocados Continue to be Strong

This week’s Legacy Market News Report has key information regarding the foodservice industry. Below are some of the important product updates to consider:

AVOCADO: Mexican supplies of avocados continue to be strong. We’ve seen record harvest out of Mexico in the last three weeks. Last week, 84 million lbs., were being harvested, of which 70 million lbs. came into the U.S. Supply is not an issue.

BROCOLLI: Supplies are good this week and quality is very good.

CELERY: There are extremely light supplies in the industry. Quality is good and the market is lower.

LEAF/ROMAINE: Like iceberg, quality looks good on all value-added Romaine packs, Frost damage present in commodity packs. Supplies are good and no concerns to fill orders. One thing to note on leaf, mud is our main concern since leaf grows so close to the ground.

SPINACH: Mud can and likely will be present in some spinach packs, including value added. It is all washed, but some mud just won’t come off.
