It’s Market News time! As the holidays pass, this week’s report holds fresh updates on the produce industry. Continue reading below:
CELERY: Business is good in demand with sales for the Christmas holiday. Lighter supplies for us but plenty available in the industry. There are average supplies on the west coast. Quality is good and the market is better.
MUSHROOM: Alert! The American Mushroom Institute reports that supply chain shortages, transportation constraints, reduced farm labor and threats of crop disease are all factors that are negatively impacting US mushroom production.
BRUSSELS SPROUTS: Sprout volume has improved for the coming week and open market demand remains strong. Raw material supplies for the category have improved and fill rates for the week should be on target.
BLACKBERRIES: Supply is tracking slightly lower than expected but like last week’s production. Rain events disrupted production in the California regions, and we expect the cold temperatures to slow down the supply.
CAULIFLOWER: Market slightly lower as supplies coming out of Mexico, Santa Maria and Yuma continue to improve. Look for this market to continue to adjust going into the weekend.
